What do cartooning and exercising have in common?

January 10th, 2007

Today was I day I had been putting off for a while now.  I had become quite lazy and had started to notice more and more my ‘middle-aged spread’. It was time to get my ‘beach bod’ back (well, at least that was the picture I had in my head). So tonight, after a hiatus, I started exercising again. And you know what, as much as I knew it would, it felt great to be active again.  I’m not one who likes to exercise on my own (I love swimming but hate the isolation of swimming laps to and from one end of the pool to the other) so I’m always eager to find some sort of team sport (tonight it was squash).  I just need to get into another routine and soon I’ll be looking slimmer and fitter than before.

What does this have to do with cartooning? Well the same approach and outlook applies to cartooning: I always feel good after doing it, it’s so much easier once you get into a routine and (not so surprisingly) the more you do it, the better you get at it. I wish I had the 1-2 hours per day per activity to do both and it’s my plan to work less as a trainer so that I have more time to do the things I love. What is it that you love doing and wish you had more time to do?
