What is my process from idea to web?

Every cartoon starts with an idea on a Post-It note. I have Post-It note at my desk, by my bed and in the car (the only place I don’t have post-it notes is in the shower). I get the base idea down on paper as quickly as possible and in any way possible. Many times I have had a fantastic idea in the middle of the night and have forgotten it by morning. Stage One looks something like this:

I then play with the layout to see if the cartoon will be better framed in a different way. I’ll sketch out the image…

At the swimming pool.

Not long got back from the swimming pool. Can someone tell me who decides if you can swim in the slow, medium or fast lane? How do you know if you swim fast or swim slow? And against what criteria?
